How the calculation works
This tool assumes every question has the same weight and an answer is either correct or incorrect. The grade is the highest entered threshold met by the unrounded percentage. Replace the sample grade bands with your own school’s scale. Partial credit and negative marking require a different scoring model.
A worked example
35 correct answers out of 40 gives 87.5%. On the sample scale, that is B.
Reading your result
Use the main result together with its units and supporting figures. Display values are rounded; calculations keep their underlying precision. A change in inputs or assumptions can change the answer. Compare the step-by-step working with your intended use before relying on an estimate.
Frequently asked questions
Does the sample scale apply everywhere?
No. Edit the grade bands to match your institution.
Can I use partial credit?
Not in this question-count model. Use Weighted Average for weighted numeric scores.
