Privacy policy — release draft
About this document
This original release draft describes the current implementation. The operator must add its identity, contact details, applicable jurisdiction, and any required notices before public launch. It has not been reviewed by US legal counsel.
Calculator inputs
Calculator inputs are processed in your browser. Using Share places the selected inputs into the URL; anyone with that link can read them. Avoid entering sensitive information into a shared scenario.
Device storage
Theme preferences and inputs explicitly saved with the Save button are stored locally in your browser. You can clear them through browser site-data settings.
Hosting and administration
The hosting provider may process request metadata and authentication data. Administrative access on clearcalc.org uses the owner’s configured login and password. Articles, publishing configuration, and audit logs are stored in the site database.
AI, analytics, and advertising
When an API key is connected, blog-generation prompts and source extracts may be sent to OpenAI. Visitor calculator inputs are not included in those prompts. Google Analytics 4 loads only after you choose Allow analytics. It uses cookies to measure visits, page views and engagement, and may process browser/device information and approximate location. We send page addresses without query strings or fragments; calculator inputs and administrative pages are excluded. Advertising and Google Signals are disabled. Choose Reject analytics to keep Google Analytics blocked, or change your choice at any time using Cookie preferences in the footer. Your choice is stored locally in your browser. Google processes analytics data under its own privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Retention and requests
Administrative data is retained until the operator removes it. The operator must define a retention schedule and a contact channel for privacy requests before public launch.
