How to use this calculator
- Enter your own values in the labeled fields. Check the units and assumptions before comparing results. Only the fields needed for your selected calculation mode are shown.
- Your answer updates automatically. Review the calculation steps to see exactly how it was calculated.
- Copy, share, save, or download your result. Saved inputs stay on this device.
How the calculation works
A single ratio scales every ingredient while preserving its original unit. This is useful for preparing shopping quantities and comparing batch sizes. The arithmetic does not decide a suitable pan size, cooking duration, seasoning adjustment or safe storage procedure. Fractions should be entered as decimal numbers.
A worked example
Scaling from 4 servings to 10 uses a factor of 2.5. An ingredient of 200 g becomes 500 g.
Reading your result
Use the main result together with its units and supporting figures. Display values are rounded; calculations keep their underlying precision. A change in inputs or assumptions can change the answer. Compare the step-by-step working with your intended use before relying on an estimate.
Frequently asked questions
Can I download the scaled ingredient list?
Yes. The detailed table exports as CSV.
Will cooking time scale by the same factor?
No. Cooking time and equipment require separate judgment.
