How to use this calculator
- Enter your own values in the labeled fields. Check the units and assumptions before comparing results. Only the fields needed for your selected calculation mode are shown.
- Your answer updates automatically. Review the calculation steps to see exactly how it was calculated.
- Copy, share, save, or download your result. Saved inputs stay on this device.
How the calculation works
Volume-to-mass conversion depends on the ingredient and how it is packed. Preset dry-ingredient factors are approximate baking references rather than universal densities. Metric cups are scaled from the US-cup factor by volume. A custom measured factor is preferable for a specific product; a kitchen scale avoids packing uncertainty.
A worked example
Two US cups of all-purpose flour at 120 g per cup correspond to approximately 240 g.
Reading your result
Use the main result together with its units and supporting figures. Display values are rounded; calculations keep their underlying precision. A change in inputs or assumptions can change the answer. Compare the step-by-step working with your intended use before relying on an estimate.
Frequently asked questions
Why not use one factor for all ingredients?
A cup of flour and a cup of sugar have different masses.
Can I reverse the conversion?
Yes. Choose grams to cups.
