How to use this calculator
- Enter your own values in the labeled fields. Check the units and assumptions before comparing results. Only the fields needed for your selected calculation mode are shown.
- Your answer updates automatically. Review the calculation steps to see exactly how it was calculated.
- Copy, share, save, or download your result. Saved inputs stay on this device.
How the calculation works
Enter a balance, a constant nominal annual rate and a fixed payment. The model applies monthly interest before each payment and reduces the final payment to the amount owed. A payment that cannot cover interest is rejected. Changing balances, card fees and daily-interest conventions require a different model.
A worked example
At 0% interest, a $1,200 balance paid at $100 per month takes 12 months and costs $0 in interest.
Reading your result
Use the main result together with its units and supporting figures. Display values are rounded; calculations keep their underlying precision. A change in inputs or assumptions can change the answer. Compare the step-by-step working with your intended use before relying on an estimate.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the card’s minimum payment?
No. It is a fixed amount you choose, not a changing issuer minimum.
Does this include new purchases?
No. The model assumes no further borrowing or fees.
