Return on total invested cost
18.1818%

Calculated from your inputs · rounded for display

Net profit$2,000.00
Total invested cost$11,000.00
Proceeds$13,000.00

Simple, non-annualized ROI. Enter all relevant costs; timing, financing and taxes are not modeled automatically.

Your calculation, step by step

No black boxes
  1. Invested cost = 10000 + 1000 = 11,000 USD.
  2. Profit = 13000 − 11,000 = 2,000 USD.
  3. ROI = profit ÷ total invested cost × 100 = 18.181818%.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter your own values in the labeled fields. Check the units and assumptions before comparing results. Only the fields needed for your selected calculation mode are shown.
  2. Your answer updates automatically. Review the calculation steps to see exactly how it was calculated.
  3. Copy, share, save, or download your result. Saved inputs stay on this device.

How the calculation works

ROI = (proceeds − initial cost − additional costs) / (initial cost + additional costs) × 100

This version uses total invested cost as its denominator. Additional costs are part of the investment base and also reduce profit; do not enter them again inside the initial cost. Proceeds should include the receipts being compared with that cost. This is a simple return for the whole period, not an annual rate.

A worked example

$12,000 proceeds on $10,000 total cost gives $2,000 profit and 20% ROI.

Reading your result

Use the main result together with its units and supporting figures. Display values are rounded; calculations keep their underlying precision. A change in inputs or assumptions can change the answer. Compare the step-by-step working with your intended use before relying on an estimate.

Frequently asked questions

Is this annualized?

No. Investment duration is not included.

Can the result be negative?

Yes. Proceeds below total cost produce a loss.
