How to use this calculator
- Enter your own values in the labeled fields. Check the units and assumptions before comparing results. Only the fields needed for your selected calculation mode are shown.
- Your answer updates automatically. Review the calculation steps to see exactly how it was calculated.
- Copy, share, save, or download your result. Saved inputs stay on this device.
How the calculation works
Measure the area to cover and choose matching units for room area and pack coverage. Add the allowance appropriate to your layout, then round to whole packs. The purchased area may exceed the adjusted requirement because packs are indivisible. Product instructions and installation patterns can change the allowance needed.
A worked example
200 ft² plus 10% allowance is 220 ft². At 20 ft² per pack, buy 11 packs; at $50 each, material cost is $550.
Reading your result
Use the main result together with its units and supporting figures. Display values are rounded; calculations keep their underlying precision. A change in inputs or assumptions can change the answer. Compare the step-by-step working with your intended use before relying on an estimate.
Frequently asked questions
Does this include installation?
No. The estimate covers entered material prices only.
What if the pack coverage is in another unit?
Convert coverage first, or select the matching area unit.
