How to use this calculator
- Enter your own values in the labeled fields. Check the units and assumptions before comparing results. Only the fields needed for your selected calculation mode are shown.
- Your answer updates automatically. Review the calculation steps to see exactly how it was calculated.
- Copy, share, save, or download your result. Saved inputs stay on this device.
How the calculation works
Select the tax-base assumption appropriate to your scenario; the calculator does not identify local rules. Outstanding debt on a traded vehicle is added to financing, while its full trade value is deducted. All entered fees are financed. The amortization assumes equal monthly payments and a fixed rate.
A worked example
A $30,000 car with a $6,000 down payment, no tax or fees and 0% interest over 48 months requires $24,000 ÷ 48 = $500 per month.
Reading your result
Use the main result together with its units and supporting figures. Display values are rounded; calculations keep their underlying precision. A change in inputs or assumptions can change the answer. Compare the step-by-step working with your intended use before relying on an estimate.
Frequently asked questions
Is trade-in debt already deducted from trade-in value?
Enter full trade value and outstanding debt separately to avoid double counting.
Does this include insurance?
No. Insurance and running costs are separate.
