Distance5km
Elapsed time30min
Speed10km/h

Constant average pace; pauses, terrain and elevation are not modeled. Use the distance unit that matches your entered pace.

Your calculation, step by step

No black boxes
  1. Time = distance × pace, using a single distance unit.
  2. Distance = 5 km; elapsed time = 1,800 seconds.
  3. Pace = 1,800 ÷ 5 = 360 seconds/km.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter your own values in the labeled fields. Check the units and assumptions before comparing results. Only the fields needed for your selected calculation mode are shown.
  2. Your answer updates automatically. Review the calculation steps to see exactly how it was calculated.
  3. Copy, share, save, or download your result. Saved inputs stay on this device.

How the calculation works

Pace = time / distance; time = distance × pace

Use a distance unit that matches the pace unit. Total time is entered as separate hours, minutes and seconds. The main pace result is decimal minutes per unit, and a supporting figure shows minutes and seconds. This is an average over the entered duration rather than a terrain-adjusted prediction.

A worked example

Five kilometers completed in 30 minutes gives 30 ÷ 5 = 6 minutes per kilometer.

Reading your result

Use the main result together with its units and supporting figures. Display values are rounded; calculations keep their underlying precision. A change in inputs or assumptions can change the answer. Compare the step-by-step working with your intended use before relying on an estimate.

Frequently asked questions

Can I calculate a target finish time?

Yes. Choose time and enter the planned distance and pace.

Are stops included?

Use elapsed time if you want stops included; use moving time otherwise.
