Exact arbitrary-precision integer arithmetic, limited to 512 input characters per value. No fractions, two’s-complement encoding or bit-width assumptions.

Your calculation, step by step

No black boxes
  1. Read input as a signed base-10 integer.
  2. Operation: convert.
  3. Write the exact integer in base 16.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter your own values in the labeled fields. Check the units and assumptions before comparing results. Only the fields needed for your selected calculation mode are shown.
  2. Your answer updates automatically. Review the calculation steps to see exactly how it was calculated.
  3. Copy, share, save, or download your result. Saved inputs stay on this device.

How the calculation works

Integer = Σ(digit × base^position)

The input digits must belong to the selected base. Both operands use that base when an arithmetic operation is selected. Arbitrary-precision integer arithmetic avoids ordinary floating-point integer limits. Negative results use a leading minus sign, not a fixed-width two’s-complement representation. Fractions are not supported.

A worked example

Decimal 255 is hexadecimal FF and binary 11111111.

Reading your result

Use the main result together with its units and supporting figures. Display values are rounded; calculations keep their underlying precision. A change in inputs or assumptions can change the answer. Compare the step-by-step working with your intended use before relying on an estimate.

Frequently asked questions

Can I enter a negative integer?

Yes. Use a leading minus sign.

Is there an input limit?

Each integer is limited to 512 characters to keep browser work bounded.
